The Transflex joint system comprise of steel angles and a steel bridging plate system encased in a flexible elastomer. The system is secured to the deck by mechanical fixings.
The Transflex units for the 150 and 200 systems are supplied in standard lengths of 1750mm and 1830mm respectively, but may be manufactured to suit specific contract requirements. The Transflex system features a 3mm butyl rubber Uniflex secondary waterproof membrane.
A range of models are available to accommodate movement up to 330mm, providing a substantially waterproof joint and a smooth wear resistant surface.
Transition strips incorporating Britflex polyureide resin mortar may be installed either side of the Transflex units. Transition strips are an optional feature and their requirement is dependant upon the finished surfacing specification.
The Transflex expansion joint system is included within the approved list of products for the UK highways agency, BD33/94 Joint type 5 refers.
