Waterproofing
Project: Sheffield Riverside
Location: Sheffield
Type: Deck waterproofing
This project presented some unusual challenges for USL StructureCare.
The project itself was a two story extension to an existing modern multi-story
car park. However the car park was not just used commercially, it also served
as a car park for private residential properties. The car park remained
operational during the works and the proximity to residential units meant that
the works processes had to be carefully planned to avoid noise and dust
pollution at this prestigious city centre site.
The project involved waterproofing the new exposed roof deck. USL StructureCare
installed the BBA approved, CONIDECK 2205 waterproofing system to an area of
around 2000m2. This type of system is a market leading elastomeric membrane system,
with unrivalled crack bridging capabilities making it ideal for exposed
car decks such as the one in this project.. The system incorporates a separate waterproofing
membrane and wear coat; the membrane being the thickest of any system available
in the UK.
Conideck also incorporates skid resistance and demarkation of bays and aisles
through the use of colour, adding to the safety of the car park users.
CONIDECK 2205 is only one of the extensive CONIDECK range supplied by Degussa,
for whom USL StructureCare have been awarded Licensed Applicator status.
CONIDECK systems can be designed for any common application in Multi Storey and
Rooftop car parks; on both exposed and covered decks.
The system was chosen at Sheffield Riverside only after exhaustive research by
the discerning developer Wilson Bowden.
