The problem with this four year old car park was that the original car deck surface was an extremely smooth, power floated, concrete slab. Although a durable surface ideal for heavy trafficking in the car park environment meant that there was very little traction for vehicles, resulting in accidents caused by vehicles and pedestrians slipping on the surface. Another problem caused by the concrete flooring was the squealing noise created by car tyres on the surface, something the car park owners were anxious to overcome.

However, we were given the task of completing one deck of 2000m² in a 5 day window starting on Sunday. The deck needed to open again on the following Friday for the busy weekend. A tall order.and an impossible one for most companies.

USL StructureCare's involvement in resolving this problem involved using the Conideck 2257 system - a rapid curing coating for intermediate decks leading to minimum down time. This an essential element of refurbishment projects as the car park needed to be

re-opened as quickly as possible all of this whilst providing an anti slip surface with excellent aesthetic qualities and extreme durability.

The system incorporates a high skid resistance value which was tested on site and shown to give more than three times the original surface value.
