Car park solutions - USL StructureCare has given a new lease of life to Dominion Court Car Park on Herbert Road in Solihull, thanks to strengthening work and a colourful new deck membrane.

Working as principal contractor for property and construction consulatancy Acies, USL carried out a full refurbishment of this private, single raised deck concrete framed car park, which had an old and degrading lightweight system applied to its roof deck (mastic asphalt surface), over an eight-week period, finishing a week ahead of schedule.

USL worked with specialist geotechnical contractor Technik Ground Solutions, who provided the new piled foundations, and Northern Structures who supplied and installed new columns at basement level to provide additional support to the raised deck car park.

Having stripped off the existing failed lightweight deck membrane, USL carried out some concrete repair work on the deck and soffits using repair materials supplied by sister company Nufins.

The were also requested to remove the original surface mounted joint and install their UCP joint into a newly created recess.

Once all the preparatory works had been undertaken, USL then applied BASF's Conideck 2205 system to an area of 2,231m2 to provide a new waterproof deck coating which was installed in contrasting colours to highlight the running aisles and parking bays, before the works were completed with the reinstatement of the car park's line markings.
